THE VIRGINIA INTERNATIONAL POLO CLUB ANNOUNCES

KICK-OFF DATE FOR THE 2009 SEASON

(Upperville, VA) - May 1, 2009 - The Virginia International Polo Club (VIPolo), the only all-inclusive polo facility in the Mid-Atlantic region, will commence the season with a special match on May 24, at 4:00 p.m.   Accompanying the match will be the first Twilight Brews and Bluegrass event presented by The Blackthorne Inn & Restaurant under the field side Pavilion. 

This is the first of the Special Event Social Program joint venture between VIPolo and The Blackthorne Inn.  General admission is free.  There will be a $30 fee (kids half price) to enter the comfortable and cool field side Pavilion to view the match while enjoying the buffet, soft drinks, live music and cash bar.  Advance ticket sales available at http://www.blackthorne-inn.com/ or pay as you enter the Pavilion.

Weekly premier matches will take place every Saturday and Sunday beginning at 10:30 a.m. from June through September and featuring teams from the 4 and 8 Goal grass leagues.  Additional 8-goal matches will be played every Wednesday night at 5:00 p.m., the Arena League on Thurs p.m. and on Fridays will be the 4 goal grass games at 4:00 p.m. and the Women's Sunshine League on Friday at 6:00 p.m.

Special events will take place throughout the season, including the third annual 20 Goal Exhibition Match, charitable matches, clinics and more.  Reserved tailgate and boxed seats are available (at a discounted rate) and general spectators are welcome for all matches.  Schedule; click here
